Default Automation snapshots? what are they? how to?

Can some one help me understand what Automation snapshots are, and (more importantly) how to use them? i read about them in the manual, but that left me scratching my head even more!

thanks

Think of them as a way to quickly automate a selected section of data (Volume, pan, plugins, etc). Snapshot automation can be very useful when you have several regions on a track that all need different EQs, compression, etc., so you simply make sure the plugs are automation enabled and then as you go along you can treat each region as a "snapshot" of automation settings. This is a feature missing in other DAWs and is always tough for me to not have because I use snapshot automation all the time.

I think you will find it very useful as well.

Hey, great link. I actually never used snap shot automation either, I sort of faked it manually, probably should have read it manually ;~). But I never quite got it from the manual and I have actually read them since 3.2 so....
Thanks, I can tell that this is a tool I will use.
