Default auto selecting the proper midi channel

Just finishing upgrade to 002r and G5 and when I import a midi file it does not automatically select my Korg 03R/W and the corresponding proper channels to play the parts correctly. The Korg shows up in my midi set-up and as a midi playback option and I can manually select it and all the channels individually but this takes unnecessary time. It used to work perfectly in 5.1 and I know I'm forgetting something simple. Any ideas?
