Default Question on IRs for Reverb

I have Waves IR as well as Liquidsonics Reverberate as convolution reverbs. I came across the Samplacity M7 IR library. There are several download options: 32bit-48k, 32bit-44.1k, 24bit-48k etc etc.

Does the bit and sample rate of the IR have to match the bit and sample rate for the session, or does it matter?

Secondly, it appears these will work with both Reverberate and Waves IR. Does anyone have experience with either? Are they good?

Thanks for any info.

Happy New Year

I use the bricasti IRs in reverberate and they sound great for what they are. (I don't have a real one to compare.) I don't think that the IR's sample rate/bit rate have to match your session. I've never come across this as an issue anyway and I work in sessions at 44, 48, 88, 96. Mostly all 24 bit. Not even sure which version I downloaded. I guess I'd like to get an answer to your first question as well.

Thanks, Benny. I would guess that if you're not having any issues with respect to bit/sample of IR versus the session, then it probably doesn't matter! I'm going to give it go anyways! I just downloaded the 32bit - 44.1k ZIP file. Sure have lots of IRs in there! I'm going to try with both Reverberate and with Waves.

I'll report back.

Yes, match sample rates.

I use them in both Waves and Reverberate. I prefer Waves but not because they sound better there but because I am more familiar with Waves IR...Reverberate gets a lot of my effort though, it is a great program.

You said match match sample rates. What about bit depth? I just want to be sure I download the right files. Thanks!

bit depth shouldn't matter
in theory 32 it more actuate than 24 but I believe it depends on that your IR verb can handed

In general IRs that come from external hardware will be no more accurate at 32-bit than at 24-bit, so that makes little difference. In terms of sample rate it's best, but only by a small margin, to pick the same rate IRs as your project but since basically all convolvers will resample to the right rate using good quality resampling it makes little difference.

Where/how do you install these to use in Waves IR?
