Pro tools 11 No iLok please

To be honest the one thing which I've wasted the most time on with PT10 is that damn iLok! I don't have a problem with the concept of the iLok but seriously use a product that actually works ALL the time!

I have had to scrap PT on several occasions because of the iLok giving me errors and switch to other DAWs.

If I pay for a product I expect to have less problems than people that have pirated the software, the iLok is having the opposite affect.

I will probably not buy PT11 if it needs the iLok.

Sorry to rage but I've had enough.

Interesting, I have been using ilok for years (I have 5 of them) and they all still work fine. I have never had downtime because of an ilok. Maybe I'm just lucky, I dunno'.

I actually enjoy being able to take my licenses with me via the iLOK.

Or not have to email a company after a few PC builds for the to reset your authorization count as they are capped and tied to specific machines.

Or be limited to the number of PCs I can run the software as the company has a limit.

What I am saying is that iLOK authorization works very well for me.

I have over 100 iLoks and have only had one fail and that was physical damage

now there have been some problems with USB 3 ports and some OS updates that cause a setback but all in all very reliable

Exacly! Not ONE second downtime here Either so +1 for keeping Ilok for PT11HD

Been running iloks since OS9. Still have one I bought 10+ years ago, never had a problem with it. Did you ever experience the floppy key disks that were the predecessors to ilok? Those things were a headache.

I used to have a thing against iLoks when I was running a Windoze system and Sonar years back and swore I'd never use one. Get an iMac and PT and have fallen in love with the beasty. Best thing I ever did was get a dongle buddy so the iLok isn't hanging fast to the back of the computer and taking a chance of it getting broken off.

Never an issue here either. Since iLok2 holds so many assets, I move ALL the stuff I need on my main system to a single iLok2 and I buy the ZDT coverage(just another office expense to write off each year). Worst thing that ever happened, happened today when I updated my backup computer from 9 to 10. After all was said and done, I had to pull the iLok and stick it back in

If we didn't have iLok we'd be back to the days of having to use Avid hardware exclusively in order to run Pro Tools.

I don't like iLok one bit TBH but I'd rather have iLok than be forced to use hardware I don't actually want.

Whilst I've had some issues with loading my licences onto the iLok, on the whole I like it. I still use the 1st generation one.

I too like the transportability of it.
