Default Video Output Firewire?

Hey guys,
I have mojo and Protools 7.2.1. I'm doing surround and i'mtrying to output my video to an LCD screen. I have tested H.264 and Avid Compressed video importing. The Videos import but no options for Video I/O appear and the pull down menu for output to firewire is grayed out. I have trashed prefernces, PRAM flash and all the typical checks. Any thought on why I'm having these issues.
Thanks,
Skipp

The video has to be formatted as a quicktime DV in-order to play out firewire. See page 838 of PT 7.3 Reference Guide.

The Mojo directly plays all kinds of QT codecs. It´s not necessary to transcode most codecs.

H.264 I hear is processor intensive I hear, so avoid it. Is your video track online?

I imported a DV file and a h.264 version of it and played it while watching the system usage meter. They seemed to be the same. The DV looked better though, even though the DV was created from the H.264 version. I tend to keep everything at DV just so I know the quicktime offset it always the same.

On another note, why can't digi incorporate a function to convert the file for you on import. Much like if I try to import an MP3, it'll convert it to WAV for me. Why can't it convert it to a DV if I try to import a H.264 or different file? That would be a huge selling point for the mojo.

Hey guys,
thanks for your input. I have my track online. My source for the Video is FCP with compressor making the video file. Compressor doesn't have the "Apple DV Codec"
I would like to know what the Dub Theatres and smaller Post houses are using now.

Did you install the Avid Video Engine? Is this a fresh installation of the Mojo? If it is, you have to install the video engine from the PT installer.

I just tried the DV Codec and the video out firewire is no longer grayed out. However PT will not see the mojo. My mac sees the mojo and i'm on the appropriate port (1). Along with the DV codec I tried the h.264, the Avid Meridian Compressed, and the DVCPro 50 and like the PT reference guide says only the Apple DV codec or DV codec works. So this is despite what the Avid Mojo will support.
For now I have figure out why PT won't see the mojo.
Thanks guys,
Skipp

??? Where in the manual does it say that the mojo only supports Apple DV? That´s sounds like nonsense to me. The whole point about the Mojo is that it plays a whole variety of both Avid and QT codecs fine. Are you sure you are not mixing that up with the regular DV through FW with a cannopus chapter in the manual?
Have you installed the Video-Engine that is required for the mojo?

Frank.

HD or LE? Sounds like avid engine is not loaded, or you are on LE. Did you install the avid video engine from your PT installer? Your mac will see it as a standard firewire interface, ala canopus if you didn't install the engine. Also, if you use the avid codec in quicktime, it doesn't buy you anything on the mojo, i.e it will not use the mojo's acceleration. Avid codecs have to be generated from an avid or mediastation as OMF or MXF. You can also capture into the timeline, and PT will capture as MXF Avid codec, and that will take advantage of the mojo's acceleration. Otherwise, the Mojo is just another firewire video interface, like canopus.
