Default Printed audio track timing drifts

This is my first post so please be patient. I'm using Protools 9.03 . When I record to an instrument track from my V-drum TD-6V module, the midi notes seem to be locked in time as they should be. When I send the midi note for the snare drum, for example, to an audio track and record them, the timing of the recorded audio track drifts around by as much as 2000 samples thus being badly out of time. The drift is not consistent. It will vary from being in sync to thousands of samples off to a few hundred samples off etc. from one snare hit to the next. I have tried delay compensation on and off, removing all plugins etc. to no avail. I'm open to any suggestions as I'm pulling what's left of my hair out.
