Seems like they've at least done one thing, and that is gotten everyone talking about something other than a more stable engine and bug fixes. It's looking like PT will be losing a lot of customers by the end of 2019 and if things continue on as is I will be in that group. If we want change we will have to vote with our wallets, maybe they should have a chat with Waves. Stay with what you think is your most stable version and drop out, then if things improve over the next few years and the same happens to them as in the Waves scenario we will be able to re-enter at a reasonable price? uncle and all.

WTF?

I mean they PROMISED this for 2018 due to the poll! SO basically the whole avid poll is a lie and pointless?

I would say it’s bordering on extortion.
Dangle a carrot then pull it when they have the cash.

More likely they're just struggling to get code it with the required stability, rather than some of sort of conspiratorial extortion scheme...?

If this is the case, why wouldn’t they just say “hey guys we are having some issues but this is what’s coming. Thanks for your patience.” This is not much to ask for if this is the case.

I have read all this thread and I would say, in conclusion (I hope my english will be correct here):

1) Avid takes the road he sees in the development, consistent with his equipment and his strong position in the studios. We can not blame him for that.

2) It can be blamed however 3 points:

a) its complex software pricing that looks like a scam (as seen by a large number of customers: disturbing!)

b) its aggressive marketing, which aggravates the perception of the scam and creates many illusions (always disappointed).

c) its total deafness in terms of the new needs of its customers, lit by the development of its competitors. As if Pro Tools was perfect and could sleep in this state, which of course is a huge mistake (even if its negative effects do not show up immediately). This is for me the most serious point.

That's why after trying Cubase, now abandoned (I do not like his monitoring a little loudness: license to sell!), I'm in Samplitude. It is not as rational as Pro Tools in its interface, but it is generous and very refined in its functions and possibilities. And a very high quality of monitoring, conversion, etc. + ARA functions, Sonnox restore suite, etc. And on the cost side, it's the other world.

When I started reading about PT|U 2019 I was rejoicing because I thought that the 32 I/O limit would finally be lifted...

But no.

I mean are you SURE that all these increase in voices do not increase the 32 I/O for PT Ultimate SW???? REALLY???

I mean.....it's frustrating. I have an Apogee Symphony MK2 and just because each Symphony box has an extra 4 internal busses, PT will not allow me to have 32 channels, and actually the whole I/O assignment gets mangled up...
I worked with Apogee support on this (excellent support BTW), and it did not work, to their and my amazement!

Can anybody confirm this FOR SURE?? - no change in the 32 I/O limit
