Hardware problems with OS 10.4??
Hello All,
Vaguely I remember reading a post about certain imcompatabilites between older revisions of ProTools HD hardware, PT version 7.0+ and Mac OS 10.4+. I tried to search for it (No, really, I did) and couldn't find it. The reason I bring this up is that I recently tried upgrading one of our MDD G4 (1.25 gHz) from PT 6.4/ OS 10.3.5 to PT 6.9 and OS 10.4.2. When launched, ProTools said that it was unable to find the hardware (HD2). I removed the cards, re-seated them with the same results. Installed 10.3.8 and the whole thing was happy. Is there any else who has had a similar problem? Most of our HD cards and I/O are older (if that helps) Randall

Re: Hardware problems with OS 10.4??
Hi,
I am having a similar problem to you own except the host machine is a '1st gen.' G5 1.8 dual, OSX 4.3, PT 7.0. The Mac system profiler does not register any PCI information even though the Core and Process cards are fitted. PT fails to launch, halting at the 'please connect hardware' warning. The cards and 192 interfaces have worked fine for the past three years when installed in a G4 daul 1.42, OSX.3.9, PT6.4. Any help would be much appreciated Cheers |

Re: Hardware problems with OS 10.4??
If you've moved or changed or removed any of the stock cards in a 192, it may not be recognized properly with Pro Tools 7.0. Updating to 7.1 should clear up the problem if this situation applies to you.

Re: Hardware problems with OS 10.4??
as you suggested, I installed the PTHD 7.1cs6 software but to no avail. The problem persists.
Digitest does nothing! 'no information' message in the Mac system profiler persists! Audicore manager indicates Digidesign HW: unsupported device/Status Not connected no HW found! For some reason the core and process cards are not being recognised, yet the 192 interfaces perform the normal orange ring to green ring transistion when the Mac is powered up. Thanks for your input |
