HD3 > HDX Upgrade pricing??

Does anyone have pricing info on upgrading an HD-3 to an HDX system with an HD 16x16 interface??

If you trade in a BLUE HD Interface, the price is the same, but you get a new 16x16 as well.

My understanding you cannot buy just a HDX card. You have to buy a HDX with an interface, be it a OMNI ($9999 Total) or HD I/O 8x8 ($10,999 total) or HD I/O 16x16 ($11,999 total)

$5999 and a blue interface gets you an HDX and an Omni. You add $1000 to your blue interface and you get an HD IO 8 x 8.

There is no upgrade deal that gets you a 16 x 16.

Those are the non-upgrade prices. You can buy an additional HDX card, but it has to be with the purchase of an HDX system (with interface). The additional card is... gulp... $6999.

Yes, that is correct. My bad. There is no upgrade price for the 16x16, but I would assume that it would be $7999

Here are the prices for the upgrades. Click on "8 models to choose from" to view the options. In the other fine print on the page it specifically states only the 8 x 8. This was also confirmed by the Avid guys in the live web chat last night. This is also not new for them to exclude the 16 x 16. There is a current $1500 off an HD Native and interface bundle that only includes the Omni or 8 x 8 and leaves out the 16 x 16.

Note that all these upgrades are assuming you have a blue interface to trade in. If you don't, or only have one of the new HD interfaces, you should probably call your dealer and see if there's any options.

You may want to consider all options, like whether you'd be better off selling what you have and getting a brand new bundle (especially if you want the 16 x 16) as opposed to doing the trade in.

Or consider doing the trade in and selling the interface that you get brand new to someone else so you can get what you really want, etc.

Question....

I want to keep my existing converters so have none to trade.
Can I trade a HD2 or HD3 in on an HDX card only - no I/O involved?
Also can the 2 or 3 HD cards be Accel cards only (ie... no Core card)?
