Default Re: ProTools price adjustments from July 1st.

I decided to renew now with Sibelius until 2023.... and Pro Tools until 2021. However, I think this new price increase will eventually bury AVID. This will at least give me time to look at alternatives.

The only way I’m going to surrender my perpetual license is if Avid pulls it from my cold dead hands.

Yep!!!
Even when Adobe went subscription with their software, if you had a perpetual license it still worked. That’s why I’m still on Creative Suite 6....hahaha
Serial number still works.
If Avid pulled perpetual licenses that would be unheard of.
Even the monoliths of Microsoft and Oracle let your enterprise software run after your sub ends, just no more support.

Started PT at V4 in 1998. For me the features and improvements vs the cost of renewals over the last few years is just not worth it anymore. I will settle on a 2019 or 2020.x before next March (when current renewal runs out) and that will be where it stays. The feature set will be whatever it is . Been 98% in Logic and S1 for more than a year and doing fine.

No worries.
I just pulled the trigger on this deal.
No more subs from me. I’ll learn S1 in the background while using my perpetual license on 2019.5.
Hopefully next time I invest in PT it won’t be in the hands of Avid.
Feeling good.
