Gradually increasing click tempo
Hi all, I've had a bit of a search for this but can't seem to find this exact thing mentioned (probably due to my search terms!).
I'm working on a project at the moment where the main body of the song is already tracked but we need to tag on a mandolin intro at the front. This needs to start at about half the tempo of the rest of the song and gradually speed up until it meets the tempo of the song. I've tried doing this in the meter ruler with the pencil tool but when I draw it in a few bars seem to disappear from the bar ruler. I spoke to another engineer who suggested that I needed to move the song start point to the start of the main body of the song. I have tried this but still getting the disappearing bars! I'm sure this is operator error and I'm doing something silly. Can anyone advise how to rectify this? Cheers Ff |

Re: Gradually increasing click tempo
After moving the Song Start Marker try pinning the main body of the song in the Graphic Tempo Editor thus enabling the space required for an Accelerando.

Re: Gradually increasing click tempo
by pinning do you mean identify the first and last bar?

Re: Gradually increasing click tempo
A Tempo event marker that preserves previous tempo events. In your case, the tempo of the song after the Accelerando.

Re: Gradually increasing click tempo
Or, in the tempo editor, just select the amount of bars you want the accell to occupy.... cmmd+2 (keypad) Tempo operations menu, select linear, then type in your start (slower) tempo.. hit apply, and PT draws a perfect accelerando. This is a handy window for a lot of things tempo/time related.. ff

select your area.... set your start tempo...select your "curvature".. apply. Works like a gem. I think somewhere you are mis-stepping. Or your system needs a PREF/Database cleaning, ff |

Re: Gradually increasing click tempo
Also try changing the resolution up to 16th or 32rd.

Tried all of this and trashed preferences! No joy! Also tried in a new unrelated session. I wondered if it was to do with the size of the speed up (around 35bpm). Tried adding in extra bars to accommodate but it's still screwing my grid.
This will definitely be my fault somewhere along the line. I've never. Had reason to do this kind of thing before but surprised how difficult this is. Thanks for the help guys |
