Default Moving Selection By Selection Length

I have a long region and a chunk of it is selected. I need to select the exact same size chunk of audio directly after the current selection. Is there a way to do this quickly? Sorry if its confusing... What I'm looking for is a lot like shift+/- but instead of moving the selection by the nudge value, I want to move the selection by the size of the current selection. Thanks in advance for any help!

One way which would work is to First split the selection you've made (appleE) then duplicate your current selection (appleD) make a note of where the duplicate ends and then undo the duplicate and use the info to split the following audio.....

There might be a quicker way but that won't take long and will work

I've had to do this a few times, and did it like this:
  1. Create an empty "dummy track" below the one you're editing
  2. Make the selection in the original track
  3. Separate
  4. Hit ":" to go down to the dummy
  5. Repeat the empty selection 1 time
  6. Hit "P" to go back up to the original
  7. Rinse & Repeat
I'm sure there are better and faster ways to do this, which once again would make me go !!!

Thanks for the help! The dummy track idea is a little more efficient than what I was doing. A shortcut for this would be rad. I found this in a search but I need the tab to transient function...

From Rail Jon Rogut re: Can I nudge a selection so it starts at its end?

Disable Tab to Transient, copy the length by clicking in the Length field at the top of the Edit Window and copying it (Command+C)... after working on your first phrase separate the region Command+E (in your prefs enable Auto name separated regions) hit the Tab key and click in the Length field and paste the value (Command+V)(Return).

Amazing! Command+Control+Option+L works for backward but I can't get Command+Control+Option+Apostrophe to work for forward. I've tried all sorts of similar combinations and none of them work. I'm using 8.0.3cs1... Can anybody get this shortcut to work?

The apostrophe key I'm using is to the left of the backslash.
I'm pressing ' NOT " (with shift).

My keys go -
K L ; ' \

Mine's a UK keyboard.

Thanks for all the help Richard! My keys go (K) (L) ( ( ' ) (enter). I'm not sure why it's not working... I'll keep trying things out. I googled "Move the selection forward by the selection amount" and found this link where someone else mentions being able to move the selection backwards but not forwards.

What version of pro tools is it working in for you?

Very strange!
At the moment I'm using M-Powered 8.0.3cs2.

I wonder whether it's a UK/US keyboard problem.
Just a wild guess - try the similar looking symbol (not sure what it's called) just below the ESCAPE key on a US keyboard

or
the 2 key
(the @ and " keys work the opposite way on a British PC keyboard compared to a Mac.)
