Great you are set, this is mostly an annoying stupidity the SATA standard inflicts on users, initially seen with large/enterprise drives intended more for servers being used in older Macs and PCs... the drive vendors including Western Digital deliberately delayed implementing that pin change in more consumer focused drives for some time... but eventually it happened with the assumption that most consumer computers are now compatible. The Mac Pro cheese graters are not....

Should have spotted this straight away but got myself confused with mention of two different operating systems that was not relevant.
