LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 SSD 120
Does anybody use this drive? I'm specifically wondering about unmounting since it can only get it's power through it's USB 3.0 or thunderbolt connection. Thanks.

We used the Lacie Rugged 120GB SSD drive as a recording unit for PT10HD and as it is full now we needed a bigger SSD and bought a Samsung Pro 512 GB SSD in a Icebox and worx great. I don't really know what you mean by unmounting? Do you taking out the SSD and if so that is not a good option and even if you could remove it the rugged only takes 120GB drive size and is not meant to be changed as far as I know.

Re: LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 SSD 120
I've used it with my MacBook Pro Retina for mobile work, and when I'm back at my studio I can connect it to my Mac Pro with the USB connection running at USB 2.0 speed. The only drawback is the number of Gigabytes; the film project I was working on pretty quickly grew too big for the 120GB drive.

I use this drive, except mine is the 256gb version. I connect it through thunderbolt problems.

Re: LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 SSD 120
Un-mounting the drive from your Macbook Pro should work like any other external drive, bus-powered or not. Simply control click the drive icon and choose eject. Alternately you may drag the drive icon to the trash. The trash icon will change to an eject icon, then release. Now if you are having trouble un-mounting that is another matter entirely. What is the one way that works 100% of the time you may ask? Power off the Macbook. ~TE

Re: LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 SSD 120
Thanks for the feedback. I actually don't have the drive yet, I just read that one person had had an issue with it ummounting unexpectedly. I have no idea what system he was running it on, as there could be different reasons for that. I have heard very good things about this drive, and I appreciate you weighing in on this. I have a USB 3.0 that works but I'm going to be recording this summer for a week at a church family camp in a building without AC which is why I'm looking into this LaCie rugged drive.
