Default Weird GUI problem (Avid support have gone quiet)

Hey all,

Anyone seen issues like this before?

...Video link and imbedded pics are below...

Really strange GUI behaviour.

I contacted Avid about this time last year, they said my computer & OS were out of date and no longer compatible etc.

Now I have new machine and PT still has this weird GUI stuff going on right from the first launch, all hardware and software are bang up to date.

Avid have gone quiet, or they're taking ages to respond.

I've no idea what to do.

Any suggestions?

Cheers, M

No idea what you are doing here. Can u narrate it. Or better yet, post a reproduceable list of things for others to try. In addition you haven’t provided any details of your systems.

What mode are you in? Slip/grid/spot etc up to the left? Can’t see on iphone as the video is too fuzzy and small for iphone 10

He/she is in Grid.

The mismanagement of the GUI elements looks like a mapping error and most likely has to do with your computer system.

What is your graphics card?
Are you running native resolutions on your computer screens or scaling?
What are your screen resolutions?
Are you using any type of window management software?
Also what version of Windows Home 64bit? (as in what release; there was one just this year that is being rolled out through Windows Update)

I originally had this problem with vers 2018.7 under Windows 7, temporally cured by going back to 2018.3 The first thing to do is make sure your GPU driver is up to date. Windows updates can cause all sorts of problems as well such as changing some settings to their default values.

Thanks for the suggestions BScout, you helped me solve it!
It was to do with scaling in Windows, Pro Tools looked tiny on the ultra-wide 21:9 screen - I turned these Windows options off and the GUI glitches have stopped.

Much appreciated bro, all the best ;-)

If you need/want to scale the display, change the display resolution in the video card driver via its setting app if available rather than using Windows Display Setting to scale a percentage.
