Default serious level changes between 32 voice session and 64 voices

I'm still on PT 6.4, and am doing a fairly large feature length doc. I've noticed when the session first opens (64 voices) the levels are very low. I change the session to 32 voices and the levels come back to where they should be... I then reopen with 64 voices and its fine.

Anyone?

Have you tried trashing preferences yet?

Has it always behaved like this or is this a new occurrence?

Truthfully, this is the first time I've user 64 voices. So I can't say that it's happened before. I haven't tried trashing, but I will. It's odd how it fixes itself when changing the playback engine twice.

trashing preferences didn't help..

Are you on the very last 'CS update' of 6.4.1 ? I seem to remember on my mix rig, that i had some similar strange level jumps, that were cured with the last update..

Yeah...using ProTools 6.4.1

This is a session that was started on a ProTools PC system, and it's huge... I just finished the film tonight, so tomorrow I'm going to try a new session with 64 voices and see what happens.

I guess it's time to upgrade my system....

..& CS4 update? It's just i do remember there was a bug due to the +6db or +12db fader option, which had results just as you describe on one of my old projects, & the last 'CS' update fixed it
