i don't understand targons reply. perhaps he doesn't use any other software on his computer. i tend to understand that the direct i/o drivers are almost asio drivers anyways...very very slight differences. i also was lead to believe that the direct i/o drivers were slightly less efficient than the actual asio drivers if you wanted to use the digi hardware with any other software. for real world info on latency and actual real compatibility with software like peak or cubase, we'll have to see these combo's in action. if i find out that it all reall works, i'll be happy to get an 001. if cuabse actually crashes or if the performance with other software is really degraded, that will be a bummer. i do really want to use this system on my mac with peak and cubase vst 24 4.1, but both use asio. both are listed as being compatible with the 001 (by a digi rep in this bb), but no official specs about the subject appear on either web site. seems to be a popular enough question though. i still haven't heard abck from steinberg on the issue, i emailed them for feedback as well. i just have to keep checking here after users actually try to use the 001's and see if it's happy camping or time to look at other hardware.
