Default Should I still do a DVERB test?

I found a thread on i7 build where the DVERB test is carefully explained.(not sure if I did it right I had a solid tone from the get go) THe thread was started about 2009. My question is now w PT10 should one still always do a DVERB test or was this just for LE users?

EDIT: link to that thread http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=238426 Dverb test is explained in the first post

What do you want to test, performance?

Its a good way to benchmark your system. If it seems to fall way below other similar systems, then you know you have some issues. If it test great now, but 6 months down the road, can only do 50% of the earlier test, you know something is amiss.

I'm not sure if I get it right. Mykhal says Record arm the track w the reverbs inserted. Is record arm the same as record enable or actually recording that tone onto that 2nd track?

This makes no sense.

The Dverb-test was used to mesure the performance by counting how many plugins you could have active at once. Waay back in PPC days when prosessing performance was everyones worry. Had nothing to do with "clearing caches".

It was useful when comparing the performance of systems, but if no one is using it anymore, it's kinda meaaningless.

There's been talk about PT not releasing memory, and restarting will of course clean up memory. But I know nothing about that.

A DVerb test just seems like a silly waste of time these days.
I think the last time I did one was when I was running PT6LE on a dual core AMD, and even then I got some absurdly high number.

The Dverb test was mostly just for the bragging rights for the home-builders, back then dual-core was cutting edge technology and everyone wanted a way to rate their native systems against HD.

..of course if you're really interested in seeing what your system can do go for it!!!
