Default Midi Keyboard Issue

I just got my ProTools Native HD card running on PT9 and I'm having problems related to a Midi Keyboard controller.

I try to use it but it sticks keys leaving them on until I hit the key again, dropping out notes, etc.

The first time I notived it I closed PT and restarted and it worked fine...but then when I closed it and started it later it's back to the issues again.

If I use my mouse and click on keys with a virtual keyboard via plugin interface it seems to be fine...this is going on specifically with the outboard midi controller.

Any help would be appreciated.

Which Keyboard? How do you have the keyboard connected? MIDI Interface? Drivers? Windows version?

Its a Fatar Studio 90 88-key controller, using a Digidesign Midi I/O 10 in 10 out rack, drivers are whatever came from the PT9 install disk, Windows 7 64bit Pro.

It's run on a Dell Precision T3500, Xeon 2.8 Quadcore, 24gigs of ram -

Does Windows detect MIDI I/O?

Yes, the keyboard works which is connected to the midi I/O rack and its powering the unit/sending signals / lights up when in use, etc. It's just dropping out key hits every few seconds when in use.

Do you have access to another MIDI Interface, perhaps a simple single port to eliminate the keyboard?

I'm not sure what you mean. Another controller or a another "Interface"?

The Midi interface is the Midi IO, the controller is the Keyboard...

Do you mean using a different controller? or a different Midi Interface? Swapping out the interface would not eliminate the keyboard, but the answer to either is no, I don't have another setup.

This was working before on PT8, and for the most part the setup is getting a signal and to some degree working so I doubt it's the hardware unless something has changed in the software that doesn't support my current setup.

Its dropping out a few notes sporadically and sticking the keys on until I hit the key again to cancel it out. Further more, If I do an occasional restart of PT sometimes it will shake loose and work just fine.

MIDI Interface, I said another MIDI Interface. And if I recall Digidesign MIDI I/O is EOSS.

You mean eliminate the keyboard as a potential problem then?

I thought the Midi I/O was still supported on PT9 / Native.

Bummer, the I/O was a good unit. I guess Ill have to try something newer.

Yeah eliminate the possibility. The issue might be the keyboard rather than the MIDI I/O however the cheapest way to find out is to find a cheap single port MIDI Interface. If the issue remains it's most likely the keyboard is at fault and you need not focus on the MIDI I/O.
