session length?
I'm working on a 5.1 session that contains 104 bars of midi and audio data. Yet, somehow, the session length has become extended to 1162 bars. There is no midi or audio information beyond bar 104, yet the session extends to bar 1162.
I've tried selecting/cutting the empty bars. Doesn't work. The unwanted extra bars will not go away! I'm looking for a way to limit the session to 104 bars. Any ideas? [ August 15, 2001: Message edited by: audiaudio ]

Re: session length?
Previously I wrote: "....Try creating a new, blank session. Go to Setups>Preferences>Display, edit window default length, type in a length, then import your tracks from the old one..."
THAT DOES NOT WORK. I just did a test: I created a session after setting the default edit window length to 1:00hr. The actual length of the timeline was 12:24:54:16 NDF 29.97. I tried recording out past that TC and the waveform was displayed but the audio was corrupt. I also wrote: "...Or just try to force that length entry on your existing "too long" session..." THIS ALSO DOES NOT WORK. I assumed that the "Edit Window Length" was the session length. Aparently not true. Sorry, Audiaudio, for the misleading and ill informed post. Re: session length?
Any idea how to impose a session length (on an in-progress session)?

Re: session length?
I have 5.1.1 and lots of us here in Nashville are have the same problem. Has anybody tried adjusting the hard disk recording length in prefs, you get 2 choises, use all available hard disk space , or select legnth. I tried 15 mins and it still is too long. I will try a shorter length today, I welcome other opions!!

Re: session length?
If you have extra space at the end of the session it usually is because of either:
1) An automation entry near the end of the session or 2) An end of region near the end of the session. For #1, check all tracks for any automation nodes beyonf the last region entry on all displayed and hidden tracks. For #2, check for any region entries (no matter how small) beyond the end of the song on all displayed and hidden tracks and in all playlists. Rail
