Default Which KVM Extender? (USB,VGA,DVI,PS/2, Firewire)

I would like to move my computer out of the "control room" and into a walk in closet, but am confused by the myriad of choices and specifications. For example, I've read that firewire cable should be no longer than 15 feet, but Markertek sells firewire cables that are much longer.

What do I really need? What works best? I'm only moving the computer about 25 feet away.

Thanks!

OK, I found some information using search:

Apparently, some users have had success with 30' firewire cable found here:

http://www.firewirestuff.com/cables1.html

IntelDoc suggested a Belkin solution, perhaps these:

http://web.belkin.com/config/Search/...tender&catID=1

I was looking at this:

http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=1873

There are also the crazy-expensive fiber solutions, but I don't have that kind of cash.

I like Belkin and Raritan.

Try looking here http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati....asp?CatId=202

They have every possible KVM solution and I've ordered from them for years with no problems.

I like Belkin too, but I think the original poster is confused. If he's just moving his single computer to a closet, he doesn't need a KVM switch, just extender cables for monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Cheers,

OK, I admit it. What does KVM stand for? Some of the products I have looked at look like extenders, others look like switches.

Keyboard Video Mouse... it's funny cause it's true

Just look for the extenders you don't need a switch. You would only use a switch if you had multiple computers running off one KVM (keyboard video mouse), and you switch between them.
