Default Program change via MIDI on PT7

In order to change hardware presets on several daisy-chained MIDI controlled devices, I am trying to send program change notes by MIDI, controlled with a PT 7. What must be done with the hardware and with the PT. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Furthermore, can anyone recommend literature, manuals or other guides?
Thanks,

Default Re: Program change via MIDI on PT7

If you choose a patch using the track's Patch Select button, Pro Tools will transmit a program change at the beginning of the session automatically. Just be sure to leave enough space for the device to execute the Program Change before sending note data.

Just like audio tracks, you can then create multiple output assignments using Ctrl+click (Mac) on the MIDI track's Output selector. Then you can transmit the same Program Change to multiple MIDI devices.

If you need to have several program changes at different points in the session, you can create them with the MIDI Events List window. With the window open, you can just press Command+P (Mac) to add a new Program Change.

All of this assumes that your devices are correctly configured in AMS (Mac) or MSS (Windows). If you don't know how to do that you should definitely look it up in the Pro Tools Reference Guide.

There are a ton of books on this stuff. You might want to start with the official Pro Tools 101 coursebook which is easily found at the big national bookstores or on Amazon.
