PT Aggregate I/O creating digital noise
Oh this is a loaded one.
For the last few weeks I've noticed small noises while mixing (on MBP 2.8Ghz/4g ram/PT9.0.2/using aggregate engine) a song that was recorded on a different system. The sound is kinda like lite clicks but not quite pops, more like digital clipping, but nothing is in the red. The bounces never have any of the noise. Eventually I tried changing the Playback engine from PT Aggregate to built-in output. That solved the problem. Also when I use my 002 I never hear the problem. But now every time I record via the internal I/O (mini jack using PT Aggregate) over time this weird digital noise starts creeping in and renders the track unusable, just garbage. I cant imagine this is due to a lack of ram or slow processing, so what is it? A setting? meh. So right now I stay away from the PT aggregate and use either Built in or my 002 hardware.

Re: PT Aggregate I/O creating digital noise
You are using digital I/O coming into the Mac?
You probalby have "resample" checked/enabled for the Aggregate IO built in input in the OS X Audio/Midi settings Audio panel - uncheck it and try again. Search DUC for more explanation on resample (I don't want to rehash old threads). Darryl |

Re: PT Aggregate I/O creating digital noise
fair enough... Ill give a look to see if "resample" is engaged.
AND... ill look around the DUC more. thanks. --

Re: PT Aggregate I/O creating digital noise
So thats a big no on the Resample being checked.
unfortunately. that woulda been really easy.

Re: PT Aggregate I/O creating digital noise
it got a little better once i made sure 'drift correction' was checked in the aggregate setup window. ill test more tomorrow.

Re: PT Aggregate I/O creating digital noise
I have been trying to get aggregate I/O to work with a Mackie 1620i and an M-Audio Fastrack Ultra. I was able to get them working and recognized by Pro Tools 9 but got sync problems between tracks from the Mackie and the Fastrack. I did not get the kind of noise you are describing unless I forgot to turn the Air Port off. When its on, I get clicks and static no matter which interface I'm using.
