C|24 issues. Please help !

Hello there,

I am writing here in order to maybe get some help regarding my C24.

I just bought this one second hand, and I have now found out about quite a few issues ...


First …
Been doing all possible test, and they all went well except for the switch test.
Here, none of the switches above the display works for channels 9 and up.
Channels 1-8 is fine.
All other switches on the board is working.
(Now when I run Vegas test, all the same switches seem to work fine, all blinking.)


Second …
When in Pro Tools, and pressing the soft keys button, nothing happens,
and when pressing the buttons under INSERTS, ASSIGN, PAN, SENDS, in Channel BAR,
none of them are accessible. Nothing happens when pressed …
The L(C)R button is permanent lit.

Third …
Can’t seem to access Line and DI on channel 9 and up. Seems stuck on Mic.

Forth …
Monitor section is working on one side only. No stereo out there.


Yes, I know this is very bad, but I dont think I can return it ...

So, what am I facing here ?
Any ideas ?

Well it seems pretty sever I would personally get in touch with an approved repair center and open a RMA with them so they can test the controller and give you an estimate of how much it would cost. How long ago was it bought originally?

You don't mention where you bought it, if you bought it through paypal, then you have a purchase warranty for product that does not meet what they were listed as. Same thing with Ebay.

Not through E-bay, and no PayPal.
Paid directly in person.
I do have the receipt from the bank of course.

I have written to the seller.
If I'm lucky, I might get som cash back.
The C24 was from her deceased son, so it's a little delicate to deal with.
I don't think she knew the state of the mixer ...

Btw ...
It was made in 2010, so I guess no warranty no more.

I have a friend in a local store and they are authorised AVID dealers.
I might get some info there. I'll contact him tomorrow.

I don't know for norway, but deceased or not, there must be regulations for product that are sold second hand protecting the buyer. That she doesn't know the state of the mixer should only put weight on her to refund you completely.

Well, I've only met her once, and that was quite intense due to the circumstances.
But I must say it will surprise me of she offered to take it back.

She's trying to get rid some of the stuff from her son,
so I believe for her it would just feel weird to kind of reverse the ongoing process ...
but I am hoping for a refund to cover my costs.

I really wish the circumstances where different ...

Do you have any kind of idea what could be wrong with the unit then ?
I don't know how its build, never seen it on the inside,
but I've learned it should be possible to replace most of the cards without too much knowledge,
and I remember to have read somewhere that there are a few main-cards for each main section of the unit,
and that those are replaceable ...
