Default iTunes 4.1 and Core Audio Issues

I downloaded and installed QuickTime 6.4 and iTunes 4.1. QuickTime works with core audio, but iTunes does not. Whenever I try to launch iTunes I get a red exclamation point in a blank window and that's it. No error code, nothing just a red exclamation point. Anyway, not a big deal but I was wondering if anyone else has seen this before. I've never had a problem before so I assume it is iTunes 4.1 and not the core audio driver, since it works with everyting else on my machine.

I'm running 10.2.8 and PT LE 6.1.2

-Cheers

I removed QuickTime 6.4 and wnt back to 6.3, and all is well with iTunes 4.1. Must be some problem with the Quicktime update. I noticed others were having problems with QuickTime 6.4 and FCP so I thought I'd try and go back to 6.3 and presto, chango, iTunes works with core audio.

Removing iTunes from the list of supported applications for the CoreAudio driver got iTunes working for me again (albeit, not through the Digi hardware, of course). I don't use iTunes all that much and I didn't want to go through the hassle of downgrading to QuickTime 6.3. I guess we can only hope that this issue will be resolved soon. Although, I can only guess at how much more stuff is going to break once Panther is released.

I just selected the digi core audio driver in Apple's system preferences so now iTunes runs through my 001. Not all of my apps. work this way for some reason though. Digi's core audio driver will only run one app. at a time, also. This is annoying. So I have a mixer with one channel running from the 001 & one channel from the built in audio. That way I can combine them if I have to. That's my work around. By the way, I have iT 4.1 & QT 6.4. I had to de and re-install Final Cut Pro 4 to stop it from crashing. I didn't trash any prefs. though. It seems to only work for 50% of the users though.
Peace,

I too wish that the Digi interfaces were multi-client( I don't know about TDM, so I'm only refering to LE). It would be nice to switch between apps, instead of closing one so the other can use the Digi core audio driver.

I have a post up some what related to this. Maybe you guys can offer some help.

Maybe a month or 2 ago this was not a problem, but for the last 2-3 days, I can't drag bounced sessions into iTunes.

My sessions are 24/44.1
The bounced files are save in a folder that I created. In the past, I would save bounces to my desktop. Thinking this might be my current problem, I tried to save a bounce session to the desktop then drag it to iTunes. Still no luck. What could I be doing wrong this time around?

Can iTunes read 24 bit files? Have you tried to dither to 16 bits?
