Mbox 2 Pro with Pro Tools 11 and Mac Mini 2009

Hello there, how are you? My name is Marcos and I'm a music producer. I am thinking about to acquire a Mbox 2 Pro, because I live in Brazil and here the products are overpriced, so Mbox 2 Pro, even it's old it's a good interface and will be great for my work. I checked out if there's newest drivers for it, and found the version 10.3.3 of Mbox 2 Pro drivers. The description shows that "Core 2 Duo macs" are not supported. I use a Mac Mini 2009 (Final) with 8GB DDR3 RAM; it runs fine Pro Tools 11.3.1; My question is: Is Mbox 2 Pro compatible with Core 2 Duo Macs or not? I study Pro Tools and my professor owns a Mbox 2 with a MacBook Pro 2008 and the two devices work well. I want to know if I can buy and use Mbox 2 Pro in Mac Mini 2009 (Core 2 Duo Mac) with Pro Tools 11.3.1 or later. In case, this interface was found costing R$700,00 (for me it's a good price in "reais", that's my country money (used). Avid Mbox 3 Pro costs R$1400,00 (used) and for me it's so expensive. Why are you only considering only Avid MBox interfaces? Do you need this to activate a Pro Tools LE license? Or what other DAW are you using?

There are many great interfaces from other companies, that are better supported/have better likely future OS compatibility etc. than those sold by Avid. I'd especially look at Focusrite interfaces at the lower price points.

First because I like Avid products and I need a firewire interface (better because of the speed that's up to 800MB/s against 480MB/s from USB 2.0 interfaces) and I'm thinking about use a M-Audio Axiom 25 connected by MIDI cables (I think it's better in latency). Mbox 2 Pro is a good price firewire interface (even it's used). I used a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, but thought I should sell it, and I really sell it. Now, I am without an interface and want to acquire a firewire one. I like the functions Mbox 2 Pro owns, like 2 headphones inputs, Line inputs, firewire connection and it's officially supported by Pro Tools software (it's on the Pro Tools 11 system requirements official supported interfaces list). These are my reasons for acquire an used Mbox 2 Pro.
