Default Eleven Rack's Mic Preamp

Hey guys, I was wondering how the 11r's mic preamp is. I am thinking about using the eleven rack to record vocals and acoustic guitar, so would the 11r's preamp be good enough for good recordings? Or should i still get a tube preamp like the presonus tubepre (I dont have that much to spend on a preamp)? Also, taking into account the new expansion pack that is coming out that has additional vocal processing addons, will the 11r be sufficient to record good quality vocals/acoustic guitar or should i still get a preamp?

Thanks!

It's pretty good, IMO. I've been doing vocals in a basement and getting surprisingly good results, using a Rode condenser.

How do you find recording at a buffer of 128 samples for vox and acoustic? I just ask as I've previously been using an mbox 2 pro, which can go down to 64 samples...but the driver for it is terrible and I'm sick of the little annoyances so I'm wondering if I'm just better off using the Eleven rack as my main interface instead. Anyone else got any thoughts or opinions on this?

With Low Latency Monitoring, you can record vocals with Eleven Rack without worrying about such things, since the FX are in the box. You can record the dry vocal (Mic In) to a mono track and the Rig (Eleven Rig L-R) at the same time, and monitor whichever one you'd like with no latency.

The ERXP definitely opens up some great new vocal/acoustic mic'ing options!

Also, if you use the 11R on a Mac, it goes down to 64 samples.

Thanks for the reply Chimp-man. I understand the idea with that, I guess I was just wondering if it would be bearable to record vox without LLM at 128 samples? I'm definately excited for the ERXP! Can't wait!
