For anyone wanting to run i7 with HD2 Accel PCI, I've posted my working setup in the "Best Systems and Components for Win HD/TDM" thread.

So far, so good...

Cool - no prob - too many threads, too little time...

FROM "Best Systems and Components for Win HD/TDM" thread:

I've got HD2 Accel on PCI cards, so needed a PC to work with these (no budget to upgrade to PCI-E yet). I wanted to go the i7 route and got this setup working so far:

ASUS P6T Deluxe V2
i7-920 - Boxed CPU with standard cooler - very quiet - surprised...
6GB Patriot Viper1600 (3x2GB kit)
PowerColor(ATI) 4670 1GB DDR3 (DVI+HDMI)
Seagate 1TB 7200RPM SATA
500W "ProCase" PSU - nothing too special - fairly quiet
Samsung DVD-RW SATA
Vista 32bit Service Pack 2
PT HD 8.0.1

I wasn't going for the best of the best on all components, but wanted to get the mobo/cpu/ram right (with what's available around here) and then get the rest around it to work without too much compromise (once again, had to use what's available around here... it is Africa after all...)

Performance is staggering on the RTAS side - I couldn't believe 60 McDSP ML4000s running on 128 samples buffer and CPU maxing at around 60%... HD2 Accel does 16 of these with nothing else...

Haven't loaded any RMX or Omnisphere yet, but as far as mixing and mastering straight audio goes, the setup is working 100% - not a glitch so far.

Great thread... interesting stuff here.
I'll be building a HD3 system after the first of the year.
I've got the HD3, just need to wait to build the computer.
I'm looking forward to it.
Just one question:
How does that small HD PCIe card fit in that long PCIe slot?

When you install the card by setting the faceplate first to the pc chassis, the card fits nicely to the first part of the long slot. I dont think you can install it wrong, its has been designed to work this way.

We'll be builing a new PTHD pci computer, based on a SuperMicro X8SAX/i7/Windows 7. Can't wait to upgrade (Thanks Steve)!! Looks like it will be about 4 times more powerful than our current dual opteron. Hopefully it will not run out of memory when Pro Tools keeps using up all the available RAM.
