Default Re: Mac Pro (Late 2013) GPU Issues

Mine is a 6 core and I am still occasionally facing the beachball freezing issue .... Worse ... the Apple Certified dealer here won't ever replace mine because he can't replicate the issue ....

I feel for ya, buddy! For me what helped was that it started getting worse. Took some time, but eventually the dealer was able to replicate the issue.

Although I couldn't make the Mac crash, one thing I found would often found would work was to leave the computer on but putting the display to sleep via the Mac (not just turning off the display). If I left it for a couple of hours, often I'd come back to a frozen computer. Not always, but quite often.

Iíve had the same issue with my 4 core as others are reporting. It worked perfectly for 9 months initially before getter by the freezes and the gpu restart and window server errors in the log

When I initially took it back they ordered the 2 graphics cards, interconnect board and ribbon cables. Someone in Apple support blocked the ordering of these parts and only the cables were replaced. This fixed it for a few months.

Iíve since been back 2 times to the Apple store. First time they said it was debris causing the crashes but that didnít fix it. Second time they replaced graphics card b and the cables again. On the day I bring it home it crashes again.

Iím wondering if itís worth calling Apple support even though Iím well out of warranty.

I am sure they won't give me a new one ... so I better wait until the new Mac Pro is released .... I don't need the screen for the iMac Pro I wouldn't want to throw all my setup in the garbage
