Default converting sample size

i'm coverting some beats that i play live from my computer during my shows from 48khz to 96khz. some of the songs i had to use an l3 but disabled the dither. do i need to use a dither during these conversions from 48khz to 96khz for live audio?

Default Re: converting sample size

no, dithering is only for sampling downward..it adds a bit of noise to smooth out the truncation from say 24 to 16 bit. there isn't much advantage to up sampling. if you start at48k and upsample to 96k you still have a 48k sample ..just in a bigger file. if you are adding effects etc it may be of some benefit. dither is more for bit word reduction as I understand it. sample rate has more to do with frequency response and sample clarity. hope this helps a bit
