Default D-Control Fader-Unit is unresponsive!!

I was in the middle of a mix when my left fader unit for my D-Control ES went blank. Only the word "D-Control" is showing up in the 1st and 2nd scribble strips. The main unit and my other fader-unit are working fine. I've tried re-powering, reseating ethernet cables, swapping ethernet ports, etc. Can't get this think to be seen by the computer or the main unit (when doing "Utility" tests). Anyone have any troubleshooting ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help!

C.

turn it off
hold down: select + solo + mute on the forst strip (left most if your in front)
turn on, continuing to hold the keys
once booted, release the keys

this should reset the surface, it will need it firmware re-updated when it is declared in the setup window

when you access utility from the main - does the fader unit react as well ?
If not you will have to try to access the utilities on the unit locally. The fact that it is not being seen in the peripherals is a bit concerning. If you swapped out cables etc this may indicate a dead comm board.

To access the utility mode locally on the faderpack do the following :
see the little round modifier keys bottom left of the faderpack ? (ctrl / shift etc ...) ...
Look at those as numbered from L to R : 1-2-3-4

With the faderpack powered on (don't launch pro tools) hit and hold the following 3 keys in sequence : 1-4-3

That should bring up the utility mode text on the bottom encoder row scribbles. Try to access the firmware page and see if it lists a fw for the comm board. It should list both fader and comm board firmwares.

Let us know

thanks

Chris

Thanks for the suggestions. So here's where I'm at:

Using the select-solo-mute buttons while powering on the unit, I got the firmware reset and got ProTools to recognize the unit. It suggested the firmware update, so I did. Halfway through, I got a "firmware upload was unsuccessful" message and the unit went back to it's un-responsive state. I again reset the firmware while powering on the unit and re-tried the firmware update. No success. Also, every time I turn the power off... I have to reset the firmware to get the unit functioning again. Here's the weird thing: the unit is working properly (with a few odd bugs) using the old firmware.

I'll try the modifier key suggestion next. I feel like if I could just get the firmware to upload, it might be fine (or not :)

After I've reset the firmware, the fader-pack DOES react to the utility menu (and ProTools for that matter). If I turn on the fader-pack without doing the firmware reset, it does NOT. Seems weird that it works with the old firmware, but freeze and goes dead as soon as I try to update or when I power cycle the fader-pack.

I'm having this exact problem, I can reset firmware on a fader pack but it won't complete an update when I re-declare it in Peripherals. I do the reboot/reset and it works with Pro Tools but the firmware is all mis-matched

Fader v7.3.0.117
Comm: b7.2.0.92
Motor (recently replaced) v10.0.0.0

Did you ever get yours figured out? What was the fix?

Thanks
