Default Best SoftSampler for AKAI...

I am kind of partial to the EXS24 but somtimes I get ASPI errors with my rom drive. I use Chicken Systems Translator to convert to other fomats ie: Halion, Giga, but they just don't convert that well all the time.
What do you guys/girls like to use for AKAI sample playback?

Gigasampler, on a separate computer.

I also suggest GigaSampler on a separate computer, however I find that most of the Akai samples don't sound all that good anyway. GS or GSt will play them back just fine, and they'll sound about like they did on the Akai, just not as good as a more modern sample library.

Good luck,
Mark

(Mark, he may be referring to AKAI encoded samples, such as the ones available from Ilio/Spectrasonics, which are excellent)
On the other hand, nevermind, whichever applies.

Have you contacted Chicken Systems about your problems?
I have been using it since it's release and it works flawlessly.
I do constantly check for the updates since they are always adding new translations.
Also I am running Win98se, there are a few things you have to do to make it run on XP correctly.

Stone Knife,
If that is the case then I stand somewhat corrected. I actually didn't say 'all Akai samples sound bad', but 'most of the Akai samples don't sound all that good'. However, I was thinking the worst about the format, which may indeed not be the case!

Thanks,
Mark

Thanks to everyone who replied.
I have used Gigasampler for years and am very pleased with the GIGA libraries.
Theres is actually no problem with Translator as far as it be fully operational, but I found that it works best when converting EPS files to Gigasampler files.
And yes Stone, I was referring to the Illio/Spectrasonics type sample libraries. There are several great ones out there.
I am wondering if it would be worth while to purchase an AKAI hardware sampler. The only reason have not done so is because I cannot find anything with 128 note polyphony. Any sugestions on model?

Hi Electrobank,

My personal favourite at the moment is Kontakt by Native Instruments. Loads in most formats and has the ability to route each instrument to different channels on the mixer for independant control (effects, eq, etc). Also has its own filtering, eq and effects. Its wave editing and note mapping is real easy to use. It rocks!

Cheers,
Damage

Hey,

If I can, I would like to invite you to try Sampletank. You can download a free version to try out as long as you like. If you decide to purchase it, ST comes with an Akia convertor.

www.sampletank.com
Hope this helps
