Hey, I am upgrading my rig to a new m2 Mac. I discovered that surcode in not compatible anymore past a certain OS. What are you guys using to encode ltrt?

Hey there,

you can use the Dolby Atmos Renderer for that.
I think it's even cheaper than other encoders.

Why does anybody bother with LtRt Encoding anymore? Nobody uses it. I haven't sent out an LtRt in years, even if the spec calls for it. Nobody is checking it.

I'm thoroughly convinced that it has been "copy/pasted" from spec sheets over the years and most of those who're sending the list of deliverables assume it's an abbreviation for "Left/Right" and have no idea what they're asking for when listing an LtRt.

I get what you all are saying, especially the old spec copy/paste part, but I want to have a plan in case I get called out on it not being ltrt.

That’s your prerogative. Neyrinck is still available and Silicon Mac compatible.

Waves also has one. For half the price.

And here’s an interesting thread on the DUC from years ago.

I'm glad LtRt has gone.
Terrible smearing of the sound.
I agree with everyone nobody will decode it anymore, you're better off with ordinary stereo.
Much cleaner.
