Default Multichannel vs multimono

Just checking something; In an atmos session, with DA renderer, when I have a 7.1.2 send to a 3D plugin such as Symphony, or Slapper - if the plug is multimono then panning the send goes as expected - but if multichannel then the pan seems to make no difference..
Is that as it should be?

Thanks
P.

It seems to be working fine here. What are you expecting to hear?

A multichannel instance of Symphony functions similar to a real acoustic space. Throw a ball into the corner, and the resulting reverb will come from all directions. Panning the send changes the early reflections of where the ball lands, rather than the acoustic space itself.

Multimono will just stick 10 mono instances of Symphony across your 7.1.2 track. Panning chooses which of the 10 mono instances that you are sending audio to. An alternative approach would be to just use a mono instance on a mono aux, set the aux to object and assign it to the same object number as your source sound. The mono reverb will then follow your source sound panning.

Ahh thanks ok makes sense.
I was panning a VO in a large long corridor type space with hardly any early early reflections. The multi mono sounded not great, but I could hear the movements.
