Pro Tools won't Load Plugins
I just got Pro Tools 8 and when I start the program it freezes while loading the plug ins... oddly enough it always seems to freeze on the last plug in on the list.
I've already tried removing the plug ins one by one but the only thing that will get the program to load is removing ALL of them. I've been searching these boards for an answer but I haven't found anything...I doubt this is a new problem but any help would be greatly appreciated... |

Re: Pro Tools won't Load Plugins
I am having the exact same issue with Pro Tools Academic 7.1.1 on a Windows XP machine. It starts loading, and on the very last plug-in, it freezes. Tried re-installation. Tried removing all plug-ins from the folder, but it freezes anyway in the same spot. Funny thing is, it used to work fine!

Re: Pro Tools won't Load Plugins
Thanks so much for those links. Here are my specs:
Pro Tools hardware: MobilePre USB Academic Pro Tools software: Pro Tools Academic 7.1.1 CPU: 1.73 ghz Intel Core2 Duo OS: Windows XP Home Edition (note: I downgraded from Vista) Motherboard make/model: TOSHIBA Satellite A205 (is this what is meant?) Chipset: (sorry, not sure what this refers to) RAM: 2GB Hard drives: 200 GB Toshiba drive Regarding the hard drive, I have a confession: since I don't have a Firewire port and have only just recently learned exactly what's needed in order to use a Firewire external drive, I was using my main hard drive to record (until the error). Not sure if this caused the error; in any event, I had only recorded a handful of not-very-complex songs before the error occurred. The nasty thing about this error, of course, is that I can't open Pro Tools up all the way to reconfigure it to a new hard drive now. Another thing to note: This error started occurring just after I moved some of my recordings to an external drive (via USB). I did this because I didn't want to burden my main hard drive more than necessary. So if that's what caused the error, it would be ironic. (Alanis-Morisette-ironic, or ironic-ironic? I'm not sure...) I have gone through the entire series of troubleshooting options, including total re-installation. Nothing has worked; the error stays the same. No error message, actually; the program just freezes. So if it turns out that I've totally screwed my computer up and it will never run Pro Tools again, perhaps someone can suggest what to look for in a cheap used desktop system, which I would then use exclusively to (responsibly) run my version of Pro Tools... |

Re: Pro Tools won't Load Plugins
Oh, and I've installed IE8, but am not using it. Did you mean to imply that IE8 could be causing the error?
If so, I'm more ignorant than I thought. |

Re: Pro Tools won't Load Plugins
I should have reported back much earlier, but the moral of the story is that Tom@Metro is a genius and IE8 was the culprit. As weird as that sounds.
Thanks! |
