assertion errors are a PITA. . .

audio file management is limited compared to Logic (which is also elegant in that regions are grouped inder the aidio files in a expandable interface, way smooth)

Structure EXS support if broken. I am told that AIR is too busy working on new products to fix (same thing happened with Logic a few years ago and thats why I am on PT now) Folks are too focused on the packaging and new features for the box and don't seem to get what they have now working correctly. .

7.4 adds so many drive errors its crazy. . .

Elastic audio is definitely dope. . . the AIR instruments are dope as well. . (Structure load times are lame and a faster way to change instruments while at the keyboard a la EXS seems necessary for the composer songwriters as well. . )

I don't mind the limited RTAS support. . I only mess with Digi ones but they sound sooo good its worth it. .

I work out of a studio regularly and the owner and I just spent an hour talking about switching to a PC and another app. .
1) Can you elaborate more on the 'assertion errors'? How often do you get them? Are on on Mac or PC? Is there anything that triggers them? Does trashing databases/volumes folder fix it?

2) What would you consider to be the 'ultimate' in file management?

3) They are working on these issues, but fixes, just like any application, have to come along with development for new products and/or new features. That's not an excuse, per se - just trying to keep things realistic.

4) Are you referring to 9073's? Have you disabled 'pause during playback'?

Regarding "I work out of a studio regularly and the owner and I just spent an hour talking about switching to a PC and another app. . " - can you tell us what were the real pro's and con's with Pro Tools? What's really killin' you so much that you'd consider switching, or which features are so compelling as to want to move to another app?

i keep thinking of things that i know all of us need.

13. offline bounce...or save session as audio... basically a way to bounce down tracks with all automation and plugins...

would be great if it was on a channel per channel basis. this would be killer...!!

hope everyone has a nice weekend..
Believe me - we (meaning, well, everyone!) want this too. However, due to the nature of TDM this hasn't been possible technically speaking and it's unclear if it ever will be.

With that said - who knows what may be discovered as 'possible' in the future?

Osman Kent (prophonic) figured out a neat trick for doing this in Pro Tools. Could this not be utilized with some modification to officially provide a track freeze function? Put PT in freeze mode and any track record enabled will be frozen to a new playlist.

06. Allow for network and raid drives to be used in playback and record.
I have been using networked drives for years, starting with Mac OS9. Official PT support would be nice, but it works great.

Fibre channel gives you serverless networked drives. Look at CharisMac (which we use) or SNS. I know we're not the only ones using Fibre, you could get lots of feedback from other users.

And DIGI, since you're watching this post, why no official support for Fibre channel?

re: non-realtime rendering..
"...With that said - who knows what may be discovered as 'possible' in the future?"
Pro Tools v1(Maybe v2) had this option and all went nuts (positive) when real time was initiated.

Ideas:
1. Like print drivers; Audio spooling.
2. If quick-punch background records there must be a way of meta-cataloging
2b Flashback by Synaptricity utilizes this record to ram feature.
