unable to setup MIDI instruments through Mbox 2 Pro MIDI port
Hi,
I'm having trouble with Mbox 2 Pro. It appears to be working just fine audio-wise but I'm unable to setup midi instruments through it's MIDI port. I noticed something weird right away, after I installed Pro Tools (8.0.4 running on a 10.6.4 OSX). First, the MIDI LED is not lighting up, I've tried two different controllers and I was unable to get a response with either one of them. I used a Faderfox DJ2 modul and a Novation ReMOTE 25. The ReMOTE works just fine via usb but the Faderfox only has MIDI and I've never used it before, it does light up and all the LEDs are responsive. Not only the Mbox MIDI LED doesn't respond but I can't get an answer from Live, Pro Tools and Traktor Pro, which are the softwares I tried and intend to use. I tried everything and ended up on the Audio MIDI Setup. When I click on the Mbox 2 Pro icon there's only the "Ports" tab option and everything is grey, un-clickable, and what's weird is that this is what I get: Connectors for: Digidesign Mbox 2 Pro MIDI In: 2 MIDI Out: 2 (and both arrows beside the 'in' and 'out' ports are grey and un-clickable) I'm really a noob but I'm pretty sure the Mbox 2 Pro only has 1 MIDI port, I don't know where that 2nd port came from and why I'm unable to change it. And this appears even after uninstalling Pro Tools, the Mbox 2 Pro is recognized on the Audio MIDI Setup window but with a question mark on the icon, still Ports 2 selected, everything grey and un-clickable. I don't know but this seems to be at least part of the problem. Please, can someone help me out with this? Thanks in advance! Tom |

I don't know how to help with your problem, but things would probably work better if you used your midi controller through usb. If your controller doesn't have a usb out, you can get a midi to usb interface.

Re: unable to setup MIDI instruments through Mbox 2 Pro MIDI port
Yeah, that's that's probably what I'm gonna do. But still I'd like to fix this Mbox issue otherwise I'll just have a useless MIDI port on my interface, which in turn will have no MIDI ports since that's the only one!
I'm really lost. Can anyone who owns a Mbox 2 Pro please check which ports are selected on Audio MIDI Setup? |

Re: unable to setup MIDI instruments through Mbox 2 Pro MIDI port
Can you reset your Audio MIDI Setup or trash those prefs? Mine is working fine on port 1.

Re: unable to setup MIDI instruments through Mbox 2 Pro MIDI port
What would be the best way for me to do that?
Btw I tried downloading and reinstalling the newest drivers from avid and tried but it didn't work, the in and out ports are still grey. |
