Please help - 6085 underflow error after adding RAM
Hello all....
I recently upgraded my PC to 8GB of RAM from 4GB and, now all of a sudden I'm getting a "6085 underflow" error when I attempt play back. The only thing I've done is upgrade my RAM and my rig was flawless until now... +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ SiSoftware Sandra ID Host Name : CEO-PC Workgroup : WORKGROUP Computer Model : Lenovo H215 10029 Serial Number : ES060***** Chassis : Desktop Mainboard : Lenovo Tilapia CRB Serial Number : INV**** BIOS : Lenovo D2KT21AUS 03/12/2010 Total Memory : 8GB DIMM DDR3 Processors Processor : AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 215 Processor (2C 2.7GHz, 2GHz IMC, 512kB L2) Socket/Slot : AM2r2/AM3 Chipset Memory Controller : Lenovo RS780/880 Host Bridge 2x 2GHz (4GHz) Memory Controller : AMD F10 Athlon 64/Opteron/Sempron HT Hub 2x 2GHz (4GHz), 2x 4GB DIMM DDR3 1GHz 128-bit Memory Module(s) Memory Module : PNY 4GBH1X04H1BB31-16 4GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-16000U DDR3-2000 (11-11-11-29 5-40-13-6) Memory Module : PNY 4GBH1X04H1BB31-16 4GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-16000U DDR3-2000 (11-11-11-29 5-40-13-6) Video System Monitor/Panel : Dell Computer DELL E2311H (1920x1080, 23.1") Video Adapter : NVIDIA GeForce 210 (2CU 16SP SM4.1 1.24GHz/1.49GHz, 1GB DDR3 270MHz 128-bit, PCIe 2.00 x16) Graphics Processor OpenCL GP Processor : NVIDIA GeForce 210 (16SP 2C 1.24GHz/1.49GHz, 1GB DDR3 1.2GHz 128-bit) Compute Shader Processor : NVIDIA GeForce 210 (16SP 2C 1.24GHz/1.49GHz, 1GB DDR3 1.2GHz 128-bit) Storage Devices SAMSUNG HD300LJ (300GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, 8MB Cache) : 279GB (C:) Generic- Compact Flash (USB2) : N/A (E:) Generic- SM/xD-Picture (USB2) : N/A (F:) Generic- SD/MMC (USB2) : N/A (G:) Generic- MS/MS-Pro/HG (USB2) : N/A (H:) Kingston USB DISK 2.0 (7.7GB, USB2) : 7GB (I:) TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-H653G (SATA150, DVD+-RW, CD-RW, 2MB Cache) : N/A (D:) Logical Storage Devices System Reserved : 100MB (NTFS, 4kB) @ SAMSUNG HD300LJ (300GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, 8MB Cache) USB DISK (I:) : 7GB (FAT32, 16kB) @ Kingston USB DISK 2.0 (7.7GB, USB2) Hard Disk (C:) : 279GB (NTFS, 4kB) @ SAMSUNG HD300LJ (300GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, 8MB Cache) Removable Drive (E:) : N/A @ Generic- Compact Flash (USB2) Removable Drive (F:) : N/A @ Generic- SM/xD-Picture (USB2) Removable Drive (G:) : N/A @ Generic- SD/MMC (USB2) Removable Drive (H:) : N/A @ Generic- MS/MS-Pro/HG (USB2) Optical Drive (D:) : N/A @ TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-H653G (SATA150, DVD+-RW, CD-RW, 2MB Cache) Peripherals LPC Hub Controller 1 : Lenovo IXP SB600/700/800 SMBUS Controller LPC Hub Controller 2 : Lenovo SB700/800 LPC host controller LPC Legacy Controller 1 : ITE IT8720F Audio Device : Lenovo IXP SB600 High Definition Audio Controller Audio Codec : Realtek Semi Realtek 662 High Definition Audio Audio Device : EVGA High Definition Audio Controller Audio Codec : nVidia 000B Audio Codec : nVidia 000B Audio Codec : nVidia 000B Disk Controller : Lenovo SB700/800 SATA Controller [IDE mode] Disk Controller : Lenovo SB700/800 IDE USB Controller 1 : Lenovo SB700/800 USB OHCI0 Controller USB Controller 2 : Lenovo SB700/800 USB OHCI1 Controller USB Controller 3 : Lenovo SB700/800 USB EHCI Controller USB Controller 4 : Lenovo SB700/800 USB OHCI0 Controller USB Controller 5 : Lenovo SB700/800 USB OHCI1 Controller USB Controller 6 : Lenovo SB700/800 USB EHCI Controller USB Controller 7 : Lenovo SB700/800 USB OHCI2 Controller FireWire/1394 Controller 1 : Avlab Technology TSB82AA2 IEEE-1394b Link Layer Controller SMBus/i2c Controller 1 : ATI SB700 SMBus Printers and Faxes Printer : Microsoft XPS Document Writer (600x600, Colour) Fax : Microsoft Shared Fax Driver (200x200) Peripherals Media Player : USB DISK 2.0 (7.2GB) Network Services Network Adapter : Realtek RTL8102E/RTL8103E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20) (Ethernet, 100Mbps) Network Adapter : Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device (Ethernet, 426Mbps) Operating System Windows System : Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Media Center 6.01.7601 Service Pack 1 Platform Compliance : x64 |

Re: Please help - 6085 underflow error after adding RAM
Where's your dedicated recording drive? Granted, adding RAM shouldn't have anything to do with it, but you're supposed to have a separate dedicated hard drive for recording. Maybe it's coincidental and your luck ran out? Meanwhile, just to confirm, pull out one of the ram sticks and see if it still does it, then try the other ram stick, and see what happens.
From the Avid troubleshooting page: IMPORTANT! You MUST use a secondary hard drive (not your main OS drive) for recording and playback of audio in Pro Tools. Recording or playback from the OS drive is known to be problematic and the cause of many different error types. If you are using your system drive and encountering errors, the first thing you should do is get a compatible drive. Pro Tools supports recording and playback to a secondary drive that meets the following requirements:

Re: Please help - 6085 underflow error after adding RAM
Besides that^^^ back to RAM. A change after adding RAM makes me suspect either a bad stick or maybe you bumped something. I would shut down and open the case, and re-seat both sticks of RAM, and make sure you have them in the correct 2 slots(usually the same color).
