Dupicating and renaming large numbers of files.
I have a large number of bounced clips on a track, named ...
<old_filename_XXX_old_suffix.wav> ... where XXX is a sequential number. I need to duplicate these clips and then rename them ... <new_filename_XXX_new_suffix.wav> ... so the file names match the clip names. If I use Auto Rename from the Clip List Menu, that doesn't rename the source files. I can only think of a way to do this manually, which is impractical with 50+ clips, or outside of PT, in which case the clip names won't match the file names. Is there a sensible way to do this within PT?

Re: Dupicating and renaming large numbers of files.
For duplicate, duplicate the track. On the duplicated track, select all the clips, go to audio suite and select the gain plugin, don't change any settings in the plugin but change "create continuous file" to "create individual files" and then hit render.
For renaming, use Batch file rename to rename all the clips (using the replace option) for both sides (file name, suffix; you'll have to do it twice.) Then you file rename (shift+command+r) for all of them (select them all first) and hit return after each pop-up window to rename shows up (make sure the "name clip and disk file" is set on the first one.) That will commit the clip name to the file name (if the clips are complete files.) That second step is tedious but at least it's just hitting return 50+ times. Hopefully you aren't on 12.4 still since batch file rename doesn't exist yet. In which case you'll need to do "auto rename" followed by the trick I suggested to commit the clip name to the file name.

Re: Dupicating and renaming large numbers of files.
I'm currently on 12.8.1 and I think Batch is new in 12.8.2
With the exception of the Batch Rename, as opposed to Auto Rename, that's pretty much been my workflow. I've been using the AS Duplicate rather than Gain. Unfortunately the Auto Rename doesn't have the option to rename file in the same way Rename does it looks like I then need to double click on each clip and Rename individually, which is just too easy to miss a clip. #timetoupgrade
