Default Guitar rig as a plugin for Mbox

Im on a powerbook g4 867 640 ram with tiger installed.
I am definetely considering buying Mbox. Im a solo guitarist and ive been using guitar rig for a couple of months now - it is a.m.a.z.i.n.g! lol. With pro tools le software i can start maybe recording some midi info and i can actualy compose some music. I could plug in a midi controller to the one input right? Anyway i really would like to know if guitar rig could act as a plugin for pro tools le software. I am also wondering if i would be able to just use my guitar, a 1/4 to 1/4 regular guitar cable, the Mbox (with usb to my mac), and just guitar rig plugged into pro tools le (if possible). So this means i wouldn't be using the "rig control" foot pedal AND a external audio interface; as mBox appeals to me because it is very portable and i would like to travel light. Traveling with just mbox my laptop and my guitar = heaven (with guitar rig integrated).

Anyhow! Thanks.

guitar rig does work as a plugin for protools as well as standalone software. All you would need is the Mbox and your gitbox and your good to go. However guitar rig is a cpu hog and coupled with protools i dont know how satisfactory the results would be on your system,

"gitbox" is Southern for guitar.

and I've never ever been able to get the latency times with the Mbox down to the point where I can monitor a processed signal -- not with protools, not with garage band, not with logic. by the time it gets into the computer, runs through the amp sim, and makes it back out to the headphones, the signal is audibly delayed, enought to make playing in time impossible.

what I've done sometimes is split the signal, so that one channel gets the dry DI output for later processing (through the logic Guitar Amp, for instance) and the other side goes to a cheap Podlike thing -- this is what I listen to when tracking, using the Mix control on the Mbox.

I'd be really interested to hear how others are making this work, if anybody can.

what computer are you running - next year im buying the 15'' powerbook g4 with 1.67 ghz so that will be almost twice the power. For processing speed and recording-do u also need a lot of memory-or will 512 be okay?
