Default Project Mix I/O with Pro Tools 9?

I have a Project Mix I/O that stopped working for me quite some time ago. It's been in my Avid/Pro tools graveyard closet ever since until I happened to read a post in this section by Jon Plays with Fire, (I know that's not the way he spells it). Anyway, just for curiosity I drug mine out and tried the startup method described in that post, (Hold down the zoom key while starting) and Voila! it works, or at least it appears to be functional again. Now I need to find the manual and brush up on how to operate it. It came up in Pro Tools mode and if I remember correctly when I had it working originally I had Pro tools 6.8.
The big question, will it work with ProTools 9?? I'm pretty sure there have been no new driver releases for this device so if anyone knows please fell free to advise. I'm on Windows 7, 32 bit, PT's 9.0.6. I've really missed working with a control surface and I'm looking forward to doing it again. Back when I bought the PMIO I installed a firewire card in my pc so I should be all set to go. Fingers crossed! Any advice is welcome here. Thanks.

Can't anyone give a little help on this? I've checked the Avid/ PT's compatibility page and it says 9 and the PMIO are compatible. I'm ok right now using my Focusrite 2i4 and working strictly in the box and I don't want to do anything to spoil that. So, what do I do to enable the use of both,(either/or) of the I/O's? In other words how do I switch back and forth between the two if I want to do a session using the PM or a different session usingT, the 2i4? Am I asking too much? Someone? Anyone? Thasnks

My PMIO is working fine in Windows 10 and Pro Tools 12. I've used PT from 7.3+ with it (7+8 were M-Powered versions). Audio interface and control surface both work great!

It should work just fine with your PT9. Download and install the latest (last..) driver from M-Audio: http://m-audio.com/support/drivers under the legacy section.

JoelG, I went to the link you provided and clicked on the Legacy category. Nothing happens! Do I need an M-audio account to access it? Also, and pardon my ignorance, why is the Project mix listed under 3rd party interfaces when it was produced by M-audio/Pro Tools back before M-audio was sold off ? Just curious. So. what do I do now?

Hi Terry, I followed the link and entered Series: Legacy Products, then Product: ProjectMix I/O, then OS: Windows 7 (32-bit) SP1.

The results that were returned are as follows:

Note: 5.10.0.5061 appears to be for Windows 7 Service Pack 1 only. If you do not have SP1, then use version 5.10.0.5058

You can download the drivers with the links in my post, they're the ones directly through M-Audio.

Thanks again mesaone. I now have it set up and working. I had a little trouble with setting the Windows sound scheme and finally figured out that I had to go to Setup/Peripherals/, and change to Project mix from Focusrite to get sound output. Starting a new session today!
