Looks so cool! But what were they thinking by only putting ONE Thunderbolt port on the back!!!!

And for the life on me, I don't understand why they didn't put a USB port on there also. It sure does seem like that would be the most flexible way to go if they want the unit to sell, especially as TB isn't widely available in the PC world yet.

.

They''re not looking to be flexible, they're looking to get into the thunderbolt interface game. If you want USB, that's what the scarlette line does. AFAIK it's the same pre's, same A/D...etc... If you look at all of Focusrite's line you'll see they attack all markets, Firewire, USB, and now Thunderbolt.

According to Focusrite, these new Thunderbolt units are a new design and are supposed to be a step up in preamps, conversion, etc., vs. the Saffire/Scarlett range.

That's good to know, regardless their other lines are top notch of the affordable interfaces game in my opinion. I imagine this one will be too, was bummed though on the no two TB ports...not that I need a new interface.

I hope so, not that the Saffire is bad....but you would hope the next gen Is. A Step up

It should make you want to buy it because it sounds so good.....not because you need it

Hi YYR123,

ASUS laptops already provide a thunderbolt connection:

Here's a example I found:

I thought Thunderbolt was something exclusive to Macs? What exactly is it?
