Control|24 and ProControl with Pro Tools 11?

the decisions that Avid has been making over the last several years is driving the company into the ground.

just look at this chart:

it's time someone made some decisions that serve the customers. after all these are essentially the stock holders. a customer-centric driven company always does well.

Paul, You seem very keen to tell everyone about your mod but have no evidence whatsoever, You have only made 6 posts on the DUC and 4 of them about your mod with no proof.




When you are ready to give us some proof Paul just let us know.

Yep out of curiosity I did some searching and found absolutely no actual info about this. At the prices of control 24's are selling for these days I would be interested.

The problem is that nobody trusts Avid because they have not shown themselves to be trustworthy.

Example - discontinuing CPTK. If they had just said "we don't want to sell it anymore" people would have been angry, but they would have recognized that Avid was telling the truth. Instead, Avid lied about it and said they discontinued CPTK to make ProTools more reliable.

So now, when Avid says it'll take an entire person year of effort or something like that to make a new driver, everyone thinks they're lying again. And they probably are.

The relationship could not get much worse.

This driver is never going to be updated. The people that are running this company think they are movie / rock stars themselves.

They are clearly listening to financial advisers who are telling them to trim down their portfolio to make it lean and easier to manage.

Getting rid of M-Audio, Air and Legacy support etc etc.

However tools for creatives should not be lead by financial bods who have no inkling of what creativity is.

Creativity is not financially driven, if it were we would all be in different jobs and this industry wouldn't exist.

Avid would do well to listen to what the industry they serve are asking for and not try to dictate us into buying things we dont want, they are not going to last long like that.

I am sure this issue has been exhausted before but Avid should not have been made a public company. Not for the industry is catering for or the size of its infrastructure.

Avid is not a colossus, like Apple (FCP/ Logic) nor Yamaha (Steinberg/ Cubase/ Nuendo) and it is doing well because it has pioneered with Avid (the NLE) and purchased another pioneer, Digidesign (hardware-assisted, multi-track audio recording).

The market pressures, against the lesser infrastructure, plus the loyalty towards the shareholder is bound to lead to some unsavoury outcomes.

Most probably will witness more of these in the future.

If Avid was to be sold to a company that is willing to cater for the creative base or the appearance in the market of an equal alternative, but in a considerably lesser price would make a difference.

But enough of my academic talk. I am going back to work
