Default HD Native Thunderbolt

I picked up a Native interface that just had the 12v power adapter included. When I plug in the power adapter, I see no green LED light on. Does the HD Native require being plugged into thunderbolt or digilink cable to display the power LED?

You actually don't use the power adapter. It's TB powered.

And you need a Avid Interface and a HD license to use the thunderbolt box and its not a interface, just a pcie card in a box, do you have a Avid interface to connect?

So the green LED will not light up from the power adapter alone? What is the purpose of it then? From sweetwater it says:
Q: The Avid HD Native Thunderbolt interface has a power supply connector, but can it run on bus power?

A: Yes, the HD Native Thunderbolt interface will run off of Thunderbolt bus power. If you prefer, you could choose to run it off of an external power supply.

I had a TB port on a early 2011 MbP that did not supply power, a quite common problem I believe.

Yes the LED need a host computer Thunderbolt connection to go green. It's not just a "Power LED".

And to do anything at all, even to use the headphone output. You need...

1. Computer with compatible Thunderbolt connection.
2. Digilink interface connected.
3. Pro Tools installed with a Pro Tools HD license, standard Pro Tools is deliberately crippled so that it will not work with Digilink interfaces. (A setup may work with third party CoreAudio/ASIO compatible audio programs, where I'm being generous with "may" and "work").

If after connecting all this you still have problems start by running Digitest.

Ahh ok, so the LED is not a power LED, it is a connection LED. Makes sense! Thank you all!
