How to Sync Pro Tools 12 to Cubase?

How can I sync Pt 12 to Cubase. I want Pt as the slave and Cubase the Master (host).

Essentially, I want to press play, rewind, pause, scrub letft/right, etc on cubase and have pt follow along. I can't seen to get them to work. Someone please help.

I don't mind having Pt as the Master and cubase as the slave. I just need them both to work.

I am using ipMidi with an Ethernet cable to connect both computers

Never done it, but MTC is the ticket. I am curious as to why you need this

I want to sync a cubase (music) and pro tools (video).

Yes, I know cuabse has a video player but Pro tools is far much better at handling video.

Can anyone help?

Pro Tools has a video track. Why not import your video into Pro Tools?

Pt will host the video. cubase will be the sequencer. I am not looking to debate. I am just looking on how to get them synced.

Hello guys, old post, yet I struggled a lot to find the answer to my issue, which is just the other way round : setting PT as MMC Master.


Down here is a small instruction file I wrote for myself, and for share :

To set PROTOOLS as MMC Master:

*** Virtual MIDI bus ***

- Install loopMIDI (compatible for x86/x64 operations, MidiYoke is not)
- Create one MIDI bus

*** PROTOOLS ***

Preferences > Sync > Machine Control :
- Machine Chases Memory Location
- Machine Follows Edit Instertion/Scrub

Setup > Peripherals > Synchronization :
MTC Reader : loopMIDI
MTC Gen : none

Setup > Peripherals > Machine Control :
MASTER Enable : loopMIDI Port + ID

Transport :
- Put Online
- Choose Trasnport = MMC


*************
*** CUBASE ***

> Activate External Sync = OFF (because it is the TimeCode generator)

Project Synchronization Setup
> Sources : Timecode Source = Internal
> Destinations : Timecode > loopMIDI
> Machine Control :
- MMC Slave Active
- MMC Input = loopMIDI Port
- MMC Device = 127 (or same as PT MMC out)
