dither exported drum samples, if re importing?
Hey i know that dither had been done to death on these forums, but i couldn't find an answer to this:
Should I should dither a 16 bit 44.1 drum sample which I have imported into pro tools in the form of a drumloop(sample cd), I then chop out a kick and a snare from the loops, and export them as seperate aiff or wav files. I will then re import them in the session (or a different session) and use these drum sounds in pro tools for my drums. Is it nesccesary or a good idea to dither them (drum samples from sample cd's) when exporting? If they probably already have been dithered before(sample cd), and will be dithered again when re import them and i mix down the final track. If the answer is no, what is the best way to ensure no dither is taking place when i export the drum samples? |
