Please help. No midi signal
I truly hope that someone can help in resolving my issue, as I contacted Avid support and paid 70 Euro, but they were of no help.
Basically, I can't receive any midi signal on PT, and only PT, as I tried other DAWs like Reaper, there is no problem there. I also installed other 3rd party midi signal test app, my PC is receiving the signal from my Keyboard without any problem. I did every troubleshooting possible as told by Avid support rep and on the web in addition to Yamaha support rep, like resetting and reinstalling PT and any related audio and midi drive with no success. I even bought M-Track Plus USB/Midi interface to have the midi USB cable connected directly into the interface instead of the PC, but that didn't work either. Basically I paid over $1000 on PT and related hardware, but nothing is working. I'm really going crazy on this issue.

Re: Please help. No midi signal
Do you have the keyboard set to use the USB MIDI port instead of the traditional din 5 pin MIDI connectors? Some keyboards that have both can only use one or the other and have to be manually set in the keyboard itself to the connection to be used. Try going direct from the keyboard into the computer via USB.
Have you set up the keyboard in PT? Make sure the keyboard and PT tracks are communicating on the same MIDI channel (there are 16). Also make sure your USB ports are not set to go into power saving mode. Windows tends to put USB ports into sleep as a power saving measure and that's a carryover from laptop use. Go into Windows Control Panel and set the ports to never sleep. Finally Windows is sensitive to where things are connected to USB ports. Say you connect a peripheral to one of your USB ports and configure whatever is on that port and communicating with said peripheral. If you then move that peripheral to another USB port Windows may not recognize the move. So much for the 'universal' in USB |

Re: Please help. No midi signal
Thank you very much Jack for your help.
I tried connecting the midi USB cable directly to the PC and I did turn off all USB hubs power savings with no luck. So, I uninstalled PT, PC sound card, midi and audio interface drivers, cleaned the registries and restarted Windows. Then I installed PT, midi driver and connected Avid Fast Track Due (another audio interface I have) after disabling all running programs and antivirus software with no success. I checked my keyboard midi channels and they are running fine. I tried dedicating a channel to an instrument through my keyboard and PT but that also didn't work. Once again, if I run Reaper, everything is working just fine but not Pt. I should note that only the first time I installed PT and my hardware drivers on my PC, there was a midi signal but only for once. When I quit PT and restarted it, the signal was gone forever. Also, when I quit PT, it freezes, and I have to close it through task manager. That was not the case when PT was communicating fine with my keyboard. Some kind of conflict is going on I guess. Not sure what to do else.

Re: Please help. No midi signal
Hi,
Sorry to get too basic. Are you triggering a Virtual Instrument track? (Are you playing a VI plugin?) Could you post a picture of your edit window page with instrument tracks shown? Let's check your Inputs and outputs on the Instrument track.

Re: Please help. No midi signal
Further to the screen shot, I thought it would be more helpful to add a video capture of the session and settings. Ironically, as I changed my monitor resolution to 1920x1080 to capture the video, I did get a midi connection on PT but only for one time. As I quit PT and restarted it, no more midi communication, the same issue I had when I installed PT and my hardware drivers on my PC the very first time.
Video capture link: http://1drv.ms/1Mte7lR Note: if video is not clear, please choose 1080p HD by clicking on the setting button on the right bottom corner of the screen.
