Default Pencil Tool and MXF files cause corruption

Working on the workflow from Resolve to Pro Tools via AAF. I decided to try "Link to source media" on import. Then I was curious to find out what would happen if I performed a destructive edit to an MXF audio clip, so I used the pencil tool on a couple of clips. Bad idea. Corrupted the MXF clips. Had to go back to a fresh AAF to recover.

I rarely use the pencil tool, but even so, it seems like "Copy from source media" is the way to go here.

It works just as well in link to.
I use pencil tool all the time.
The key is to bypass clip gain, and hide clip gain line.

After I pencilled a clip, the clip turned into a blast of noise, even though I had adjusted a dozen samples. Wonder why it works for you...

I always consolidate the piece of audio that I'm going to pencil, because otherwise you're destructively editing potential original audio that you can't go back to if you're not careful. Consider the pencil as an audiosuite process. If you repair audio with Izotope it will always make new audio and doesn't touch the original audio...

Greetings,

Thierry

Clip gain was still active?
