Default 5.1 surround monitors of choice. ?

Hi I was wandering what you are / would be using for 5.1 / 7.1 surround monitoring and mixing for TV and Film production.

I have used Genelec' 8030 and wasn't to keen.

I am curently reading about the Neumann KH120A in this months Sound On Sound mag.

Any thoughts?

Thank you.

I personally love my JBL 4328 5.1 setup and highly recommend them, I am hoping to get a chance to hear the KH120s soon, they seem to be generating some buzz (no pun intended)

Tannoys all around here. DMTs in the front and home-style Saturns for the surrounds. Also a Tannoy sub for the LFE.

I've been very happy with my Blue Sky System One. Translate very well.
Although I do mostly ad mixing and think you might need to go to the bigger mains & center if you were doing features.

Hi cheers for sharing.

I am wandering why you don't want me to post this on this forum, mgoorevich.?
Sure there are other forums with this question, and probably loads on this forum also.
(I know it's not PT specific)
Just making surround conversation. No stress. Thanks for the links also.

I've heard good things about the Blue sky audio and agree that they probs wouldn't be best for feature films.

I currently use Tannoys at work for stereo mixing and understand that tannoys are the top dog for home theatre surround also.

I will check out the JBLs now.

It's absolutely fine to post here and this question specificaly.
There are some folks (me as well) which visiting this forum many times a day. Most of us are trying to help or suggest our opinion.
We just made it too many times about the same topic.
I personally surf these two forum if I have question my self prior asking it public.
On the Gearslutz it's also a rule - search before the posting a new one.
At the end the less similar questions and posts, the easier a corresponding search.
Peace!

Since I don't have an unlimited budget, I use the good old Alesis M1 Active MK2 and the KRK10s subwoofer. in that case, if a speaker fails it would be cheaper/easier to replace/fix. I've been happy with this setup thus far...

Cheers,

Roger
