Default Pro Tools fails to start

Pro Tools Mbox2 will not open from my harddrive or my external drive.

I'm running Intel 17" MBP: 2GB of Ram, 2.16 GHz Intel Core duo, OSX 10.4.9, PT 7.3.1
The Core Audio Manager says: "Digidesign HW: Unsupported Device and Status: Not Connected (HW not found)

I have cleared all the .dbb files and trashed prefs, and repaired all disk permissions. I have restarted with with the mbox2 in the different USB ports and nothing still.

I had updated with OSX 10.4.9 last week throught the software updater, and today was the first time i've tried to use PT. I have also re-updated OSX 10.4.9 from the apple site and still PT won't launch.

Compatibility Alert — Mac OS X 10.4.9

Mac OS X 10.4.9 has not been qualified with Digidesign products
If you must install Mac OS X 10.4.9 for some reason, such as issues with other programs or hardware, please follow these instructions:
Do not use Apple's automatic Software Update or the Mac OS X 10.4.9 Delta Update. Instead, install the Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Update for Intel-based or PowerPC-based Macs:
Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Update (Intel)
Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Update (PPC)
If you have already updated using Software Update by mistake, you should download and install the Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Update.

Here is the Intel Mac link:

Hey.

I have the same problem - my mac is "unable to locate hardware...blah blah".

Im using Mac Pro 2.66 ghz, 1 GB RAM, Mac OSX 10.4.9.

My Mac came with Mac OSX 10.4.8, and I tried to install the 10.4.8 comboupdate which I was recommended, but it said that my harddisk didn't fulfill the installations needs - so I installed the 10.4.9 combo.

PT still wan't launch.

I also tried to install the PT 7.3.1 cs2 - but with no luck..
HELP!!!
